چکیده

The mucociliary transport system plays an important role in the clearance of excessive mucus and inhaled foreign materials from the respiratory tract. Airway epithelium’s ciliary structure is a part of the natural defense system that protects the respiratory system by propelling debris laden mucus. The mucus flow is generated by the vigorous asymmetric beating of the cilia, which can be named as effective strokes and recovery strokes. During normal mucus clearance, inhaled pathogens and particles become trapped in the mucus layer and are then expelled before they colonize the airways. The airway secretions which line the respiratory tract form a biphasic layer composed of an aqueous ‘sol’ layer and a more superficial ‘gel’ layer. The sol layer is also described as the ‘periciliary’ layer or ‘airway surface fluid’, where the cilia beat and relax. The lubricant sol layer enables the gel mucus present at the tips of the cilia to be Experimental Study

P-120: Evaluation of the Antioxidant Effects of N-Acetylcysteine on Ischemia Damage, Apoptosis Incidence and Restoration of Ovarian Activity Following MiceOvary Heterotropic Autotransplantation

Background: Ovarian tissue transplantation is now considered as a procedure to preserve the fertility of young woman patient undergoing cancer therapy. An essential strategy to improve the efficiency of ovarian transplantation is to overcome the initial ischemia reperfusion injury and free radicals production that lead to a significant follicular loss. The aim of this study was to investigate t...

Study of The Effects of N-Acetylcysteine on Oxidative Stress Status of Patients on Maintenance-Hemodialysis Undergoing Cadaveric Kidney Transplantation

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a potent antioxidant that acts through regenerating glutathione stores and scavenging oxygen-free radicals. This study assesses the short-term effects of NAC in cadaveric kidney transplant (KT) recipients. A double blind, randomized, placebo controlled trial was designed and patients were randomly assigned to receive either NAC or placebo. Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) ...

Evaluation of Radio-Protective Effects of N-Acetylcysteine on Radiation-Induced Lethality in Mice

Introduction It has long been known that ionizing radiation can lead to detrimental effects in normal cells. In this light, Radioprotective chemicals have been used to decrease morbidity or mortality caused by ionizing irradiation. This study aimed to evaluate the radio-protective effect of N-acetylcysteineagainst radiation-induced mortality in male mice. Materials and Methods 52 healthy mal...

تاثیر ان‌استیل‌سیستیین بر درد پس از عمل جراحی کوله‌سیستکتومی به روش لاپاروسکوپی: کارآزمایی بالینی تصادفی

Background: Postoperative pain is one of the most common complications following laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Because the majority of the analgesic drugs including opioids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have many side effects, using drugs with lesser side effects is beneficial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of N-acetylcysteine on the pain after laparoscopic cholecy...
